Open Committe Meeting
The open meeting took place on Sunday 15th May, unfortunately we were unable to find a new Secretary but did vote on one new and one temporary Committee member, Jenny Lloyd and Tony Hawksworth join the Committee. Jenny will also continue in her role as chief fundraiser.
The meeting was informed that the shop has already paid back the £500 loan agreed at the last meeting and is proving very popular with plot holders and local residents.
The total cost for the renovation project was just slightly over budget, but the finished project is above the original spec.
The new plots have been marked out and within 3 days all 12 half plots were taken.
The new plot holders include The Link special needs group from Coniston Road Community Centre and DreamScheme, we wish everyone success with their allotments.
Grand Opening of the Shed - 23 April 2011

The opening day was a great success, the shed was opened by Councillor Grotzke, and several other Town councillors visited the site during the afternoon including Councillors Dando and Cottrell also the Town Clerk Lucy Hamid.
The sound of “Splat the Rat” and the cheering of the “Snail Racing” rang out all afternoon. Young Jordan from plot 54 won the “Wellie Throwing” and Larry won the “Guess how many eggs” prize, Councillor Grotzke judged the Easter Bonnet competition and all four bonnets received a prize. Tony cooked all the sausages and burgers, Lyn almost ran out of raffle tickets, Mary and Sharon made sure we didn’t get thirsty; everyone who helped made it a day to remember at Pretoria road, The local residents showed great interest and 5 more courageous people went onto the waiting list. The shop proved very popular with plot holders and local residents alike.

The total raised on the day was a fantastic £510.00
A big thank you to everyone involved in the project and the event
